Jill Biden, who is the wife of 47th Vice President Joe Biden, was born on June 3, 1951, in Hammonton, New Jersey. She is a former Second Lady of the United States (SLOTUS) and is currently an English professor at Northern Virginia Community College. She also runs a non-profit organization called the Biden Breast Health Initiative. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren.
The 71-year-old first lady has been able to maintain her unbelievably youthful appearance, even when she’s on the go for a long period of time. To do so, she has a strict skincare routine that she follows. According to experts, she also tries to stay active by regularly taking up yoga and going on morning walks.
During her husband’s two terms as the 46th President, she worked to advance his administration’s top priorities, including supporting military families, expanding educational opportunities, and fighting cancer. Jill also became a champion for women’s issues and was a leader in the fight against sexual assault on college campuses.
After her husband was elected to the presidency, she resumed her roles as a community activist and educator. The pair moved back to Wilmington, Delaware, where she taught at a high school. Jill also served as a volunteer coordinator and a special projects manager at the University of Delaware. She later went on to receive a doctorate in education leadership from the university, graduating in 2007 under her birth name, Jill Jacobs.
In the early 1980s, she continued her work as an educator by working with emotionally disabled students in the adolescent program at Rockford Center psychiatric hospital. She also taught at Claymont High School and later worked in the gubernatorial office of then-Gov. Tom Carper, in addition to her time in the Senate office.
Despite a busy schedule, the devoted mother of two has managed to keep up with her family’s many activities. Jill and Joe have two children: eldest daughter Ashley is a social worker who is Executive Director of the Delaware Center for Justice; and son Beau was a lawyer and Major in the Delaware Army National Guard.
The couple has also kept up with their love of animals. They have two German shepherd dogs, Champ and Major. After Major’s passing in 2021, they adopted a new pup, Commander. The Bidens have also been known to regularly attend Mass together at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine in Greenville, Delaware. Jill is a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers NHL ice hockey team and is a huge supporter of the Phillies and Eagles professional football teams. She is a lifelong fan of the musical “Hairspray.” The couple have five grandchildren: Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, and Hunter.
